WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined by Jed Mackay (Magic / Moon Knight) as we discuss his career, breaking into the comics industry, and taking over as the writer of The Avengers!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hello again. Welcome to the 41st 1st episode of our brand new podcast IDEAS DON’T BLEED. You may think you heard our show before, but I assure you, you did not. We’ve taken all the stuff we learned from the old show, which was not that much really, and we’ve added it to some new stuff. You’ll hear all about it in the intro.
One of the things we did notice from the original podcast is that you all love it when we speak to Canadians. The last month we had the wonderful Ed Brisson on the show here and here, and the also wonderful Chip Zdarsky on here and here. We never want to be accused of not giving you what you want, so we hunted down another Canadian and tricked him into coming on our show. This one is the wonderful Jed MacKay!
If you’re not aware of Jed’s work that’s okay, but you should fix it. He has been setting the world on fire over at the House of Ideas on titles like BLACK CAT, MOON KNIGHT, DOCTOR STRANGE, and now he is taking the reins of the AVENGERS. Jed is a pal, a great writer, and an all around great guy, but most importantly he is Canadian. So listen to what he says in our crystal clear, stereoscopic audio, and then run to your local comic shop and say “Gimme all your Jed!”
A few people have been hitting me up asking me questions, including the catch 22 question “why don’t you answer more questions?”
So that’s what we’re going to do. Every week I’m going to start picking a question from you all and answering it. I spend less time on social media these days, so hopefully this can fill that more “conversational” role between us. Or I can just explain some stuff that you would have been better of googling. Either way reply to the email with your questions or hit the comment section below.
Send me all your questions about my career, my comics, other people’s comics, other people’s careers, chocolate milk, Star Wars, whales, things to do in New York, Gamecube games, cryptozoology, movies, music, (probably not) sports, or whatever else is on your mind.
Been thinking about this one a lot lately. Just sort of dwelling on the things that stick with us and how those things change with us as we get older. Not in a sad way necessarily, I guess. But in an inevitable one.
And with that, I’m done. Will have an update tomorrow about some stuff! You like stuff, don’t you?
Stay safe. Take care of each other. Make sure your stuff works.
