WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined once again by Ed Brisson (Predator / Murder Book) as we discuss his career in penciling and publishing, his transition into comics writing, and his new AWA series Sins of the Salton Sea!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
But none of that is why we had Ed on again. I got to read the first 3 issues of his new series for AWA- SINS OF THE SALTON SEA and it is about as fun as you can have in comics. Just a really cool, smart, and badass crime story that I truly think is must read comics and it comes out THIS WEEK! Look at that. We could not have planned this better if we tried…. Which we did not. So go ahead and give the show a listen and then run to your local comic shop and tell them you need this one, because it will sell out and you will miss out. And then all the cool kids are going to make fun of you for not reading it, and why do you want to mocked by children if you can avoid it?
*not true.
So, yeah. Remember last week when I said SINS OF THE SALTON SEA was out “this Wednesday” meaning last Wednesday? Well, turns out that wasn’t true. But it is out this Wednesday meaning this Wednesday now. Did you go to the comic shop last week and try to buy it? Sucks to be you, I guess. This is why people in the know always never listen to me. But you should when I say go buy SINS OF THE SALTON SEA #1 this week. It’s great.
And look at that. First time I’ve gotten the name of a guest’s book wrong on the podcast. Isn’t that fun? This podcast is falling apart. We really appreciate your listening and taking pity on us.
As a thank you we want to remind you to sign up for Ed’s excellent newsletter. You might get some hot Lasagna pics.
No promises on the Lasagna pics, but if he doesn’t send them you can let him know that’s not cool.
In “me” news, I have two books on comic shop shelves this month. Make sure to call your local comic shop and make sure they’re holding copies of JOKER #9 and WILDC.A.T.S. #8 for you. Both of them are crammed full of all the jokes and violence I can sneak past DC’s Standards & Practices Department
.Hope you dig them if you pick them up. Which you should. Because you’ll dig them.
And that’s it for me. Talk soon.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. What are you getting from the ice cream truck?
