WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined by Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel / Bitch Planet) as we discuss her comics origins, being competitive in a creative space, her upcoming Dark Horse series FML, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Look at that! We’re back again. I bet you thought we were done. I did too. But we’re not. And here we are for our monumental 99th episode! Wow. We wanted to this episode to be big and good, so we went with a huge and great guest, and then our own personalities mix in and… Voilà!
We are joined by the excellent Kelly Sue DeConnick, writer of television, theater, and most importantly, awesome comics! She redefined CAPTAIN MARVEL for a generation. She was part of the modern Image Comics renaissance with PRETTY DEADLY. She created a movement with BITCH PLANET. Then she redefined Wonder Woman with HISTORIA because redefining just one legacy character is boring. And now she’s returning to creator owned comics with her upcoming title FML. And she’s coming on our podcast too because life is full of peaks and valleys, I guess.
If you listen to this and want more of Kelly Sue, which you do, you should sign up for her always enlightening newsletter. We’ll even throw in a little Matt Fraction for free.
Enjoy the podcast, sign up for the newsletter, and ask your local comic shop to get you a copy of FML #1 when it comes out this November. And make sure to come back next week for PART II of our interview with Kelly Sue. AND TO FIND OUT WHO OUR SPECIAL GUEST IS FOR OUR 100th EPISODE!1
That’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. Maybe this is a Tuesday podcast now.
