Chapter 219: IDEAS DON'T BLEED episode one hundred twenty-six | Lonnie Nadler, part two

WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!

This week, we’re joined once again by Lonnie Nadler (The Dregs / Cable) as we discuss his time working in journalism, hating Canadian superheroes, his Uncivilized Comics series The Sickness, and more!

IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!

Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.

Enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I could have sent this podcast out yesterday but I thought ‘ya know what? I’ll wait until Friday and make all our subscribers be me valentine.’ That’s how this works. Don’t have a special someone in your life right now? Well now you got three and their names are Ethan, Griffin, and me. Already promised your heart to someone? Too bad. They’re out and we’re in.

So, the obvious question is what did you get us for Valentine’s Day?

While you think about that, I will say that we’re very excited to bring you part II of our chat with the great Lonnie Nadler. If you missed part I you can find it here. Dive into our chat and then tell your local comic shop that you need to read THE SICKNESS vol. 1.

Lots going on over in the world of our own books. For starters I did some fun interviews in the past week, like this one on the always great Word Balloon-

And if that doesn’t make you sick of me, you can also check out a brand new book I put out this week- DC VS. VAMPIRES: DARKNESS AND LIGHT.

A standalone double-sized one shot featuring a story from the vampire side of the war (Wonder Woman) and the human side (Alfred Pennyworth). It’s so big because it is full of heartbreak and violence and definitely the best Green Lantern stuff I will ever write. Nikola Čižmešija and Daniel Bayliss do most of the heavy lifting here and do some gorgeous work. It’s a fun one.

Meanwhile the WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US promotional train marches on. We just announced a brand new cover for issue #1 because it was too beautiful to hold for a later issue. This amazing cover by Tula Lotay will be available in comic shops, but it's a late addition so if you want it you should tell your local comic shop now. And pick up Tula’s brilliant SOMNA in shops now.

And that’s it for now. I’ll have a bigger update about the book and where you can get it if you don’t have a local comic shop soon. In the meantime, hope you have a good weekend.

In honor of our budding romance here is the greatest love song performance of all time. Listen to it and think about me. And Griffin. And Ethan.

Stay safe. Take care of each other. Girl, you better have fun no matter what you do.
