IDEAS DON'T BLEED episode forty-eight | Ben Percy, part two
Chapter 133: Over here!
WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined once again by Ben Percy (Wolverine / Ghost Rider) as we discuss his comics origins, Hollywood development, his new novel American Criminal, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Thanks for coming back for Part II of our chat with Ben Percy. If you missed Part I it’s available here. And again, Ben has a ton of great comics out all the time, but you should also grab his new novella American Criminal. It’s a great crime story with some gorgeous illustrations by Michael Gaydos. You can grab a copy right here.
Another thing to put on your radar for today- Today is Final Order Cutoff for KILL YOUR DARLINGS #1 by my dear podcast co-host/producers Ethel and Grifford. What does FOC mean? It is the day that publishers figure out how many copies of a comic to print. (It’s actually about a day before, but not the point.) So today is the last day you can tell your local comic shop can definitely get you a copy, so they can get those numbers to the distributor, so they can tell the publisher, so they can tell the printer. Simple.
Is preordering comics a pain for you? Sure is. Is it super helpful for stores, publishers, and creators because it helps gauge the demand for the book? Sure is. And it helps guarantee you a copy too, so make sure to preorder the books you want when you can.
But more specifically preorder KILL YOUR DARLINGS because it’s great. Don’t believe me? Fine. Let’s see what some random comic professional has to say-
He seems trustworthy. Call or email your local comic shop now. Effan and Grithin will really appreciate it.
That’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. He doesn’t seem trustworthy, really.
