WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, Gerry Duggan (Deadpool / X-Men / Analog) returns to the show (for Part 2!) as we discuss his time as a member of the X-Men, the softcover release of his photography book Timing/Luck, his Image Comics series Falling in Love on the Path to Hell, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan’s son Grif Jr., and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hello!
I just got home from a week in Dublin, Ireland which was somehow both beautiful, exciting, invigorating, and exhausting. More on all that later, but huge thanks to all the folks in Dublin who were so kind to us. Special thanks to John from Big Bang Comics for making 3,000 miles away feel like home.
The confluence of so many things happening at once has made this podcast arrive very late but, as always,
is worth the wait. In this episode we really dive into his new Image Comics series FALLING IN LOVE ON THE PATH TO HELL. It’s a truly fun book and for a limited time only the first volume will be $9.99 in comic shops. So if you’ve been thinking of checking it out, listen to this episode and then call your local comic shop and tell them to preorder you a copy. And sign up for Gerry’s very good newsletter too.
Over on Image Comics site there is more new about WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US, the new series from Stefano Landini, me, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, Jason Wordie, Roman Titov, and Becca Carey.
If you missed the announcement in The Hollywood Reporter yesterday you can read more right here-
As the holidays close in on us, I spend a lot of time being thankful of all the people in my life who are so kind and supportive to me. And I also think of the ones who need my support. So today’s newsletter has a little of both.
My good buddy and excellent comic writer (or excellent buddy and good comic writer) Iván Brandon recently broke his leg so badly that when I heard about it I got a little nauseous. And if you don’t know, getting sick in America is a very expensive hobby. So there is a gofundme set up to help Iván a bit.
If you’re in the holiday mood and want to do something for a person who does a lot to support the comics community now’s your chance.
And while he’s on your mind you can sign up for his very enjoyable Substack.
I am very jet-lagged and sleep deprived and I have a lot of scripts to write and movie screeners to get through before the end of the year. So that’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. Why did I eat so much sushi in Dublin?
