WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined by Charles Soule (Eight Billion Genies / The Oracle Year) as we discuss his comics origins, his ever-increasing involvement in the Star Wars universe, building the world of The Shrouded College including the new Image series The Bloody Dozen, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hi again. We’re back with yet another episode for you to enjoy, or at least to listen to while you avoid doing the things you should be doing.
I’ve been looking forward to this episode for so long. I’ve known Charles Soule about as long as I’ve been making comics. He actually tabled next to me at the first convention I ever did- New York Comic Con way back in 1917. I remember it well because we spent a lot of time talking about World War I (or just World War as we called it then) and the Russian Revolution. And a young boy named Jacob Javits bought my book and told me it inspired him so much that one day he was going to build a big, shitty building for us to have this convention in. And he did. Anyway, Charles has always been someone I look to for inspiration, guidance, and good comics, so I was very excited to chat with him.
Obviously you should be checking out his books like 8 BILLION GENIES, CURSE WORDS, THE BLOODY DOZEN, and STAR WARS, but he is also an accomplished novelist and ANYONE, THE ORACLE YEAR, and THE ENDLESS VESSEL. And if that’s not enough, you can sign up for his newsletter to stay up to date on all things Charles.
Enjoy the chat.
It’s that time again to get out the wallet and support a good cause.
Nostalgic Comics in San Gabriel, CA needs some help this month. Sometimes stuff happens and you come up a bit short on bills, and small businesses are feeling that more and more these days.
If you’re in the area, make the trip out and buy some books. If not, you could throw down a few bucks to the Gofundme and help keep a local comic shop alive.
And after you do that, you should take the rest of the day off. You’ve earned it.
That’s it for now.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. What the hell is “Star Wars”?
