Hello there!
Hope your week is off to a great start. We have a fun podcast today with one of my oldest friends in comics, Michael Moreci. We met online years ago, arguing about something so dumb neither of us remembers what it was. But from dumbness comes a long friendship and (hopefully) mutual respect. I learned a lot about making comics and being a writer from him and it’s very fun to see him continue to kick ass.
We actually taped this a little while ago as the sequel to his breakout hit fantasy book BARBARIC was just coming out- BARBARIC: HELL TO PAY. But because we are slow and he is an unstoppable machine he now has ANOTHER new Barbaric series launching soon- BARBARIC: QUEEN OF SWORDS!
It’s another exciting addition to the ever expanding Barbaric universe and there is still time to let your local comic shop know you want a copy of issue #1. You can check out a preview right here on Bleeding Cool. And you should of course pick up all the other Barbaric comics while you’re at it.
Been a minute since I’ve done one of these, but a buddy and member of our little comic community is in need of some help.
Shawn Aldridge is the writer of books like Vertigo’s THE DARK & BLOODY, VIC BOONE, ACTION COMICS, HACK SLASH VS VAMPIRELLA, and a ton more. A few years ago he bought his dream car for his family… and then things got rough. A cancer diagnosis, Covid, work falling apart, all meant that money has become tight and Shawn and his family could really use the help of the comics community to keep their heads above water.
Obviously times are tough everywhere, but it is so easy in today’s society in general, and the arts in specific, to fall behind on bills. So many of us are only one or two pieces of bad news away from needing help. It’s never easy to ask for help, but hopefully it’s a little easier to give it. If you have anything you can spare it would go to a good guy and his family who are having a rough time.
