WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined by Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash / Revival) and Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs / Uncanny Valley) as we discuss their comics origins, keeping their love of the medium alive, the creation of Local Man, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hi!
Getting this one out late. Sorry about that. We had some delays in editing and just as that got finished I realized I had tickets to go see Megalopolis. But I’m back, I appreciate time more than ever, and I’m here to send you this gorgeous half hour-ish of podcasting.
We decided to throw a curveball this week and have two creators who I respect immensely on here. I’ve known Tim for a while. He drew part of my first ever, we stayed in an airbnb with a murderous fish one SDCC, and we just cross paths a lot. Tony is someone who I only knew through their work for a long time, but we met recently and I became a bigger fan. It was only after getting to know Tony a bit that I picked up their series LOCAL MAN (sorry Tim!) and completely fell in love. If you haven’t read it it is both a brilliant satire of and a true love letter to 90’s superhero comics, told through the lens of the greatest hero and greatest failure one small town has ever produced. It’s funny, it’s smart, it’s poignant, and it’s just plain good.
Anyway, this was a fun experiment in having more than one creator on. Were you all into that? Would it have been better if we did them separately?
Also, if you enjoyed this and have been digging Tony’s work on books like LOCAL MAN, STRAY DOGS, and FERAL you will be pleased to know he might be coming to your town right now!

Hurricane Helene has caused untold damage and rebuilding efforts are going to take years and years, and going to need the support of a lot more than just those directly affected. There are a lot of great places to donate and help those whose lives were just thrown into chaos, but the town of Asheville, NC is near to my heart so I wanted to shout out a few places there.
BeLoved Asheville is a local, boots on the ground nonprofit who usually focus on mutual aid support for Black and Latinx people in Asheville. They are actively providing material support to people now.
World Central Kitchen is an amazing org whose mission is to get in quickly and provide good meals to people impacted by all manner of humanitarian crises, from natural disasters to war. They are currently in Asheville making meals for hungry people.
For me, and I’m sure lots of you who read this, comic shops are a vital part of our community. With that in mind, Morgan’s Comics seems like a great comic shop and a great addition to the Asheville community. They posted this the other day
If you have money to help a small business who are still helping their community despite the damage and hardship, they could use your help.
You can donate to their paypal with the email address: morganscomicssanctuary@gmail.com
Or donate to their venmo username: MorgansComics.
That’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. LGFM!
