WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined once again by Vita Ayala (New Mutants / Static: Season One) as we discuss their feelings on prose, breaking into the comics industry, and their work on Quarter Killer, The Wilds, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hi there.
Back again this week for Part II of our chat with my longtime buddy Vita. If you missed part I you can find it right here. If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and pick up some of Vita’s excellent books like THE WILDS, SUBMERGED, and QUARTER KILLER.
As for this podcast, I will say we’ve had a very nice surge in listeners lately. I don’t know why or where that comes from, but I can only assume it’s from some of you saying nice things to your friends about the show. If that’s the case, we appreciate it. If not, we still appreciate you. Just a little less, I guess.
Tomorrow begins a new month so I thought I’d share this handy little graphic I make about all the books I work on that are coming out. If you understood the lengths I go to to make this every month while also not knowing how to really use a computer, you’d be so impressed. I’m not cutting and pasting actual pieces of paper onto a poster board… but it’s damn close.
The new issue of THE JOKER: KNIGHT TERRORS is out tomorrow and it’s a fun one. If you ever wanted to see The Joker play in a corporate softball game, now is your chance. Also this is maybe the book that had more jokes removed by standards and practices than any other thing I’ve ever written, and I’m still a little shocked by what we got away with. Huge thanks to DC for letting us get weird with the Clown Prince of the Copy Machine.
We also have 2 very lovely collections coming out and, if you felt like ordering them it would be very neat. WILDC.A.T.S. vol. 1 and WHAT’S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE? vol. 2 are both in comic shops at the end of the month and, personally, I think are both very fun. But the only way to find out if you think they are fun is to buy yourself copies, and then buy copies for 11 friends you trust, have a little book club with them, and come to a consensus. Easy. Call your local comic shop today and tell them you need 12 copies of each so we can get to the bottom of this.
Anyway, that’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. Rest in peace Sinéad O’Connor and Paul Reubens.
