WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined once again by Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man / Powers) as we discuss his comics origins, the cultural impact of Miles Morales, his work through Jinxworld and Dark Horse including the upcoming Masterpiece, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hello!
I will be brief because I went to the beach and shot arrows yesterday and New York Comic Con is coming up this week, so I’m both tired and pre-tired. Enjoy this brief moment of brevity.
Just like with last weeks PART I, we are once again joined by the wonderful Brian Michael Bendis. Because I am a big fan of events like HOUSE OF M and SECRET INVASION, I was thrilled to make this podcast into our own mini-crossover. So this is our first IDEAS DON’T BLEED x JINXWORLD MASTER CLASS team-up. Brian brings the Avengers-level gravitas and we bring the Howard The Duck-level sex appeal.
If you have not been subscribed to Brian’s brilliant Jinxworld Substack you have been completely screwing up. They have great new comics, life-changing lessons on making your own comics, and behind the scenes looks at comics from one of the true modern masters, Mr. Brian Michael Bendis.
So enjoy a listen here, sign up there, and have an awesome week wherever you are.
Friend of the newsletter and friend of comics in general, Mr. Iván Brandon, has a brand new graphic novel called THE ROMAN STARS with artist V. Gagnon.
It’s a historically accurate retelling of Julius Caesar’s tumultuous time in power and his war with neighboring galaxies. It’s weird and fun and gorgeous and cool, and they already finished it and sent it to the printer. So all you have to do is pledge some money and get yourself a copy of this badass book.
Iván is a great writer of books like VS., DRIFTER, BLACK CLOUD, NYC MECH, and so much more. He is also a tireless booster of comics, a medium he reads and enjoys. So you can feel confident in your purchase of THE ROMAN STARS.
That’s it for me. Once again, hugest thanks to Brian.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. Stay warm out there!
