WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!

This week, we’re joined once again by Leah Williams (X-Factor / The Amazing Mary Jane) as we discuss her comics origins, the pitfalls of social media, her new DC Comics series Power Girl, and more!

IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!

Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.

Enjoy!

Hi again,

hope your week is off to a good start. I had a nice weekend. Got to see some friends, had an overwhelming desire for a plain bagel with nothing on it, fulfilled that desire, high-fived a baby, got a lot of work done, and watched the absolutely wonderful documentary Turn Every Page.

If you’re not into clicking on trailers I can just tell you. The film is about legendary editor Robert Gottlieb and his relationship to legendary biographer Robert Caro. Gottlieb is a towering figure in modern literature, arguably (or maybe inarguably) the greatest editor of all time, and an endlessly fascinating man. Robert Caro is equally a titan. A brilliant writer, the greatest living biographer, and arguably the greatest political writer of all time. If you’re a fan of writing, the creative process, passionate people, or odd little old men, this is a must watch.

But I don’t want you to think I didn’t do anything productive this weekend. I also made this.

So… Yeah.

As for the podcast, this is a big one! Our fiftieth episode! What an incredible monument to my ability to waste the time of smarter, more interesting people. I am wildly shocked that we’ve made 50 of these. And, if you’ll allow me to be candid for a second, I’m very touched by how many of you listen to and support the show. We made this and had no idea if anyone would listen to it. And as we march ever closer to 100,000 listens, it’s clear a lot of you do. Or the CIA is blasting the show on repeat to torture prisoners. We can’t be sure which.

If you are a (willing) listener of the show, thank you. It means a lot.

Speaking of the podcast, this week is Part II of our chat with Leah Williams, who I actually had lunch with this weekend. Leah is just all around great and you all should be getting excited for her take on Power Girl.

Power Girl #1

POWER GIRL #1 is out soon but the dreaded Final Order Cutoff is this upcoming weekend. So listen to the podcast and then tell your local comic shop you need this book, because you do. And after that you can sign up for her newsletter here.

I’m sorry. That was very bossy of me. I don’t want to dictate what order you do those 3 things in. I just need them done. Thanks.

That’s about it for me. Very big (and hopefully cool) update for our paying subscribers this week, so stay tuned for that.

Stay safe. Take care of each other. High-five a baby, when possible.

IDEAS DON'T BLEED podcast
A weekly podcast where hosts Matthew Rosenberg, Ethan S. Parker, and Griffin Sheridan talk to guests from around the world of comic books. It's fun. It's short. Why not give it a listen?
