WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON’T BLEED!
This week, we’re joined once again by Aubrey Sitterson (BEEF BROS, No One Left to Fight) as we discuss his editorial background, making visual storytelling a priority, his new Image Comics series Free Planet, and more!
IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books!
Our theme song is “Where’s the Poison” by Summer People.
Enjoy!
Hello.
Back again for part II of our chat with Aubrey. I really enjoyed this one especially because it really felt like the kind of conversation we’d have late night after a con or something. Very candid and honest. I hope you all enjoy it. And of course tell your shop to order FREE PLANET before it drops so you don’t feel like an idiot when all the cool kids have it.
And sign up for Aubrey’s excellent newsletter here-
I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on here before but I have a brand new series that launched yesterday called WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US. Lots of people had really nice things to say about it and it’s all a bit overwhelming and uncomfortable, but my sincerest thanks to everyone who picked it up. I made a dumb little video about it.
Music is my buddies in Restorations covering Radio Free Europe. Go buy their new record. It rules.
And Tyler and I just kicked off the first day of our signing tour at my beloved hometown shop Midtown Comics. I’ll do more of a tour update soon, but thanks so much to everyone who came out. We signed for 2 straight hours and saw tons of familiar faces and I can’t think of a better way to launch a book.
Boston and Rochester, you’re up next. Don’t let us down.
One last thing, while I’ve been focussed on WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US, I don’t want people to think we’ve forgotten WHAT’S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE?. We got to sign a ton of copies today and that was a joy. And Tyler and I are hard at work on new issues. But while you wait, I did a fun interview with the great folks at Dying Scene about the book and it’s roots in music.
Also I sort of said something dismissive about mini-comics in the end that I didn’t mean to at all. I fucking love mini comics. I fucking love demo tapes. There is an honesty to them that is really hard to find in other places
Reminder that we’ve got some cool new exclusives up in our webstore.
YOU’LL DO BAD THINGS #1 exclusive cover by Tyler Boss. Limited to 200 copies.
WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US #1 connecting foil variant by Stefano Landini. Limited to 200 copies.
And, while you’re here figure I’d unveil our exclusive cover for WHAT’S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE? vol. 4. Limited to 100 copies and comes with a signed bookplate from Tyler and I.
Tour continues. If you’re not respectful to the city of Boston they will beat you senseless. So this is my peace offering.
“Do you wanna be a cop or do you wanna appear to be a cop?”
That’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. What’s with the fucking nuts in the cookies, Doubletree? Nobody wants that shit.
