I am a sucker for cool comic shops. I think every neighborhood should have a good shop full of comics in it. So it pains me when I hear that a shop is having a rough time. A lot of comic shops are being hit hard in the recent economic slowdown (your regular reminder to pick up your pull list!) and Outsider Comics in Seattle, Washington has posted that they need some help.
I haven’t had the chance to visit their shop yet, but they are self described as “a queer and trans worker owned local comic book store located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, WA. We cater to comic readers of all ages and experience levels, and we are proud to host an LGBTQIA+ inclusive environment.You can find the latest graphic novels, single issues of comics, zines and items made by local artists and crafters, gifts, and much more in our store. You can also find a curated selection of our inventory in our online store.” If that sounds like a place you want to support, and it should, you have a couple options. If you’re in the Seattle area go visit them. If not, they ship worldwide.
The holidays are coming up and comics make the best gifts. Also, it’s been a wild year and you probably just deserve some gifts for yourself. Either way, you can do two good things at once and buy some books and games while supporting a cool place.
