Zack J, recovering comics journalist, any truth to the rumors I just made up that Marvel has optioned your Uncanny X-Men run to get rid of the 20th Century Fox X-Men cast so that they can introduce their own resurrected cast?
I've seen Tale and [Rec] and loved both. The Stuff I saw years and years ago, but maybe worth a rewatch... Maybe. I have not seen Feast though. Looks fun.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) is my shout. Not a straight up horror, more in the Scream, tongue in cheek with a dark edge, mould. It’s told as a fly on the wall documentary about a wannabe teen killer who follows the rules set by other famous killers like Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers. It’s set in a universe where they were real incidents and are treated like Bundy, Gacy, and Mason.
Probably a good chance you've already seen it but Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight is a ton of fun, a great mix of cheese, horror and comedy. And the cast is so damn good, William Sadler, Billy Zane, Jada Pinkett Smith, CCH Pounder, Charles Fleischer, Thomas Hayden Church.
I saw it when I was a kid. Honestly don't remember it super well. The only thing I really remember is that I liked the show more than the movie, but I think that's because I am just thinking of my favorite episodes of the show.
That's totally fair, I did a rewatch of the show a few years and there are a lot of great episodes. If it's okay to offer one more suggestion, I recently watched a werewolf movie from a few years ago called Late Phases that I thought was pretty fun, it's about a blind veteran who moves into a retirement community plagued by werewolves.
I’m sure you’ve already seen IT FOLLOWS, but I sure did love the thematic malleability of that flick.
The old VHS warrior in me remembers CURSE II: THE BITE strangely being the best of the trilogy. And my brother recently reminded me about WARNING SIGN as an old banger.
I'm loving WTFPFH,, into everything that you and Mr boss get up to..yeah I go back and forth I think it was the first album I ever got by Bill Callahan.
Wow getting a SKTCHD ZINE from the seventh most famous Alaskan in comics didn’t even make the list. I see how it is. AND IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY TOO.
Wait... was it your birthday?
(I was actually going to do a longer post about the zine, believe it or not. ((I wouldn't.))
It was not. My birthday is January 17th. I was just stealing your move.
And don't you dare write about my zine. My very public work is very private!
I'll write about it for your birthday.

Bit (2019) is my horror movie suggestion!
Looks cool. This is a frontrunner for me.
Movie suggestions!
A tale of two sisters (korean)
Feast (2005)
[Rec] (spanish version)
And The Stuff (Larry Cohen)
I've seen Tale and [Rec] and loved both. The Stuff I saw years and years ago, but maybe worth a rewatch... Maybe. I have not seen Feast though. Looks fun.

I love your song choice Matthew.. that's one of the first smog album I owned... Nice choice
Maybe my favorite Smog album? I go back and forth.
Check out Sleepaway Camp. Creepy cheesy Crying Game
I am well aware of Sleepaway Camp. Watched it many times as a kid.
What we do in the Shadows. Not terrifying, but scarily funny. Not my birthday ☹️
Seen it. Love it. Also like the show a lot, but I'm a bit behind.

But I LOVED the show, so maybe I should rewatch the movie.

The show was baller, but honestly the film is a really amazing piece of work in all kinds of campy and awesome ways.
I really love Tigers Are Not Afraid-Issa Lopez. It’s a Mexican ghost story about a group of kids trying to survive a cartel drug war.
Some underrated classics are
The Masque Of The Red Death-Roger Corman
The Beyond-Lucio Fulci
My suggestion is waydowntown. It’s more a dark comedy but definitely a psychological aspect.
Some horror-ish movies I have liked recently:
Look Away (2018)
Deliver us from Evil (2014)
The Puppetman (2023)
The Boogeyman (2023)
Silent Night (2012)
I watch a lot of movies!
I've done the 31 Horror Movies every October for a few years now, so here are some highlights you might like:
-Coherence (2013)
-Triangle (2009)
-Chopping Mall (1986)
-The Changeling (1980)
-The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
-Haunt (2019)
I’m sure you’ve already seen IT FOLLOWS, but I sure did love the thematic malleability of that flick.

Plan 9 From Outer Space -1959 (Dir. Ed Wood feat. Bela Lugosi)
One of the best (or worst) movies for around this time of year.
